We left Sheffield on December 27th for the Highlands on a photography mission during the shortest daylight hours of the year. After an 8 hours drive freezing cold temperatures not much screen wash we arrived at Gelncoe.
Just as I remembered the scenery around here is worth driving up the view from the road alone, after a few snaps on the way we headed for Fort William for some food. Not long after eating I was keen to find a good spot to camp we eventually decided on a layby on the side on the way to Geln Etive behind a fell photographer in his VW T4. Temperatures reached -6*C with harsh winds and snow throughout the night with no heater we were a little chilly. Despite the cold we woke for sunrise to a fresh dusting of snow, one of the most amazing locations I've ever camped. Shortly after driving towards Geln Etive on the very poorly maintained road we hit a pot hole resulting in a pretty loud bang. a knocking noise began to get worse from the front left corner of out T5 as we drove towards Glen Etive. By that evening we realised a spring on our coilovers had snapped resulting in us waiting for the breakdown truck to recover us back to our hotel where we would remain stuck for the next 2 days in the middle of know here with no transport. 4 recovery trucks and 350 miles later we arrived back in Sheffield, not the trip we had hoped for however an amazing one day in Scotland before the van let us down.
You will be glad to know Lenny (Vw T5) has had all new springs and shocks and is running better than ever, ready for attempt 2.
Kicking off 2018 with another lifestyle shoot for Tentsile in the Peak District just outside Sheffield. Although It looks like a nice summers evening I can confirm it was very cold around -5*C at the start of January when we shot these images. Never the less they will be perfect for the 2018 Safari range. Looking forward to doing some more work with Tentsile this year.
